About

Ben has written poetry from a young age, following the death of his father. Originally focusing on persona poetry, life events, experience and declining health have shifted his focus to the confessional.

Ben has struggled significantly with mental health, eating disorders, and the impact this has had, particularly of late, on his physical health. His early experience of grief has shaped his life significantly, having lost both of his parents by age 11.

The Familiar Bones is his first curated body of work, written predominantly over the last several years. In it, he explores not only death, and grief, but a host of emotions and realities that pull on the cords of what it means to be both human, and infinitely flawed.

In The Familiar Bones, you will find reflections on manhood in the modern age, sexuality, trauma, and abuse. You will also be confronted with provoking verse that holds a mirror up to your own experience of childhood, life, and the human need to be loved.

Each week, Ben will post a selection of verse. He hopes you enjoy.
